our story

We built Corticle because we lived the problem we're solving: numerous tools, fragmented teams, scattered dashboards, and one CISO trying to keep them all moving in the same direction.

The platform we wished we had didn't exist, so we built it. Corticle is the operating layer for the modern security organization — six capability domains, from security operations to governance, on one platform — running on the customer's own data and the customer's own model, integrating with the tools they already own.

    Jesse Whaley

    20+ years of cybersecurity leadership, most recently as the inaugural VP & CISO at Amtrak, scaling the team from 3 to 100+ professionals with an $80M budget. Previously directed the Pentagon's Cybersecurity Operations Center and served as a U.S. Army CID Special Agent. Named the 2024 Capital ORBIE CISO of the Year. CISSP certified. U.S. Army veteran.

    Matt “Mac” McKechnie

    Cybersecurity leader and entrepreneur with 19+ years of experience. Most recently Senior Director of Cybersecurity Technology at Amtrak, leading architecture, engineering, IAM, and network design. Eight years at NSA Tailored Access Operations as an operator, developer, analyst, and teacher. Founded two cybersecurity companies; built OCO, DCO, and Range technology for DARPA, DOT&E, and DoW Red Teams. U.S. Marine veteran.

    Alexander Zaft

    25+ years of cybersecurity governance and risk leadership, most recently as Senior Director of Cybersecurity GRC at Amtrak, where he built the organization's first NIST-aligned Cyber Risk Management Program and drove PCI DSS 4.0.1 compliance. Previously led global security risk programs at Thermo Fisher Scientific for two decades. U.S. Navy veteran.
